Amir Assadollah Alam was born in Birjand, 1919. He married Qavam-olmolk Shirazi's daughter in 1939. He was graduated from Karaj Agriculture School in 1942. From 1944 to 1949 he had many appointments such as court valet, governor general of Baluchestan, minister of agriculture, minister of labor, head of Administration of Pahlavi Properties and Realties, prime minister, minister of court, and minister of interior. From his appointment to the ministry of court until his resignation in 1977, he was the closest person to Mohammad Reza Pahlavi and a council to him in all domestic, foreign and even personal affairs. Prior to the appointment of Alam, ministry of court had no remarkable authority in the handling of affairs. The enclosed records include the firmans of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi on the appointment of Alam to different offices from 1944 to 1969. They also indicate Alam's love and trust to the Shah and also Shah's confidence in him. Alam was influential in governmental appointments. He managed the Shah and his family's travels, controlled political affairs of Ashraf Pahlavi, and the problems associated with Hamid Reza Pahlavi's children, establishment of relations with Iraqi Kurds and Zoroastrians and prepared some reports on oil and OPEC conferences.
