Reza Shah Pahlavi had to retire from monarchy in Sept. 15th, 1941, his son Mohammad Reza Shah replaced him and came to the throne. Reza Shah had to leave Tehran for Isfahan. Then he headed forIsfahan. Through Yazd and Isfahan, he entered Bandar Abbas. He left Iran by Bondra, accompanied by his family members, his special secretary, Ali Izadi and some of his servants. They approached Bombay, October 1st; but through orders of the British government, they could not stay in Bombay and left forMauritius by Burma. After ten days of sailing, she cast anchor in Porte Louis. Then Reza Khan and his company went to Moca by car. Hot and humid weather of Mauritius made Reza Khan sicker and sicker. He demanded to leave for South Africa and then Canada. But the British refrained from sending him toCanada and accepted his procession to Porte Durban and Johannesburg.
Having resided in Porte Durban for sometime, they left for Johannesburg where Reza Shah lived his last month a very sad and desperate life and suffering a heart disease, he died in July 25th, 1944. They mummified his corpse and trusted it to Egypt. It was transferred to Tehran in 1950 and was buried in grave near to AbdolAzim.
